General Information

Water temperature in the summer can be in the 60s, and when visibility is good the kelp forests off the Channel Islands are spectacular.

You can take day trips to Catalina from San Pedro, or take the ferry to Avalon and walk around the harbor to dive at Casino Point. Or you can take a multi-day liveaboard from Santa Barbara or other sites.

Note that if you're going during lobster season, the boats may favor sites for that over ones with good photography.
