Canthigaster jactator (Hawaiian Whitespotted Toby)
Scientific name: Canthigaster jactator

Taxonomy: Kingdom Animalia → Phylum Chordata → Subphylum Vertebrata → Infraphylum Gnathostomata → Parvphylum Osteichthyes → Gigaclass Actinopterygii → Class Actinopteri → Subclass Teleostei → Order Tetraodontiformes → Family Tetraodontidae → Genus Canthigaster

Common name: Hawaiian Whitespotted Toby
Locations: Hawaii
Group: Marine LifeFishPufferfishes

Distinguishable from a female spotted boxfish due to its longer snout, and spots which do not extend onto the tail. The spots gain a blue tint at night.

A number of the ones I saw in Kauai had black patches on them.
