Sabellidae sp.6 (Banded Feather Duster Worm)
Scientific name: Sabellidae sp.6

Taxonomy:

Common name: Banded Feather Duster Worm
Locations: Eastern Pacific
Group: Marine LifeInvertebratesTube Worms

Tentacles are striped dark red and white, compared with a more uniform tan or orange for Eudistylia polymorpha.

This is not Eudistylia vancouveri, which is not found in sand like this, and has alternating bands of deep maroon & greyish-green.

Like most frilly tube worms, these will pull back into their tubes when disturbed.

ID by Leslie Harris, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles.
